Another SLOW internet thread... this time with cable

Ok, I got a small problem... I got two computers networked through a router, sharing an internet cable connection. The problem is: my sister's computer internet connection is incredibly slow, while mine is rather good. How can I solve that? Is it the same thing as for DSL?

Also, I can't access the other computer from my computer. When I click on "network" on desktop, the computer searches and searches and searches... without finding anything...

any suggestions? comments? stuff?

Thanks!

Cool

If you are running one of the WIN9X kernels your receive buffer may be set too low. If you are running WIN9X go to www.pitstop.com and do a download test. It will give speed and suggested fixes if there are problems.

Ignore this post if you are running XP. I have no experience with 2000.

The first step is to remove all networking components that you dont need from that computer. and reverify the network settings esp DNS settings, also helps if you set an IP. If you need more help please furnish details of the operating systems and the protocols you are using.

For the computers to see each other, they must be on the same Workgroup. Check the settings under network properties as this is often overlooked.
