Pop-ups from another site?!!!
This is a new problem to me.
When I am surfing the web, I get pop-ups, but not from the site I am surfing. I can see the web address in the address bar, and it is redirecting the ad from another site. Now, I only have on window open, and the ads popping up are from porn sites. The site that is shown as the site redirected for the pop up is not PC Mech. The site is a popular place to get those sick/funny videos, think Jackass type-stuff. But, I'm getting these pop-ups when I am not at the site. Haven't even been there today. I am running ad-aware, and it did not find anything on my system. How in the hell is this other site getting pop-ups to run on my system even though I am not at his site? And for the record, my virus definitions are up to date as well. I don't run a pop-up killer, and I don't want to have to, but this is getting annoying. I'm sitting here with my daughter, and I click submit on these forums, and up pops a porn ad. I hit back, and it takes me to more porn. I have to close the browser to get out of the loop. Anyone know how this is done, and how to stop it? This should be illegal, since I am not even at the guy's site, and he is forcing ads to me somehow. |

Howdy
Could very well be a cookie problem... Have you also cleaned out your cookie and temporary internet folders?... Getting one of those free cookie smasher programs would be worth your time I suspect... but, how long has this been happening?... Are you using Internet Explorer?... Some other browsers are better at controlling pop ups all together... Good luck |

I cleaned out my cookies this afternoon as part of Ad Aware's scan. Waiting to see if they come back. I am using IE 6.0.
This is pretty sad, because like I said, my daughter uses this computer, and I would hate for her to be at Barbie.com, hit a link, and open up to porn. Perhaps this should be looked into by the FCC? Who manages this type of stuff? |

clean out all Temp internet files, cookies, and history. Do a Ad-Aware scan (make sure to update the reference file first), download SpyBotS&D and do a scan. Get RegCleaner from www.jv16.org and do a reg scan. Make sure your Antivirus sig file is up to date too.
This is all I can recommend at the moment. |

Dump ALL your cookies, not just the ones Ad-Aware sees as "bad".
