Hi,
I am trying to connect to my home XP box from my work PC which is running NT workstation. The problem is that I am behind a firewall and the connection to the web is via our proxy server on port 80. I dont know what type of proxy it is at all. I have tried remote desktop client using different ports but to no avail. I have tried using IIS and Remote Desktop over the web but as soon as I get to the main screen the active-x which is needed to view the host machine is blocked. I have tried Remote Administrator on port 80, also no connection. I thought that I had access to port 80 but what I do not understand is when I do a netstat on my NT machine, I get the following: TCP The localmachine port is always changing. Is there any possibility to find out which ports are open so that can be used with VNC, Remote administrator, RDP or any other. Any ideas on this? Thanks for your help! |

Your sysadmin is God. You need to speak to God, only God can open the ports you need in the firewall.

I use Radmin to connect to my machine at home everyday from work.
Just change the port on the client. If you have a firewall on your home pc, create a rule to allow you to connect to it, IE application/ or port number, or ip address. It would be hard to swallow that your network engineer has all but port 80 blocked (it's possible but NOT likely). Good Luck!
