am I missing something with Opera???

Any OPERA surfers users want to help out a noob?

I'm surfing a lot with Opera and much prefer it over netscape or microsoft. HOWEVER, there are often sites that won't let me log in with a password, open links, post on forums, check web email, etc with opera. I have to jump over to netscape to get to that page.

I have tried all kinds of configurations with cookies and javascript etc. I searched through the Opera tech support and couldn't get an answer.

Is this just a limitation of Opera, that some sites don't "like" it and you can't get in???

It's making me lose my commitment to this great alternative browser.

Any help appreciated.

Don't be so quick to blame or give up on the browser, many site are only desinged for them to work with IE and nothing else. I prefer to use Mozilla, but there are those times that I have to knock the dust of IE and use it.
Have you tried Mozilla?

Did you install the Java version? If not, you need to download the Sun Java Runtime Environment.

The only limitations I've noticed with Opera 5 is that it doesn't print a selection on a web page. On Opera 5 & 6, I have trouble with Java Applets, and sorting/deleting mail on my hotmail account. And yes, I did download the java verson. Just not everything works in opera. As for logging in, I've found that it never times out, while in IE, it does.

My Opera preferences were set to "use java" but I didn't have the java version of Opera installed. Installed it and now I seem to be having a lot more success getting into sites. Only problem is that sometimes I can't download with Opera on some sites.

Thanks for the help; I'm really glad to continue to be using Opera; it rocks.
