Cool

You will need a wireless router that also has a wired port for your current PC, and a wireless NIC for the laptop. I would recommend Linksys. Make sure that your cable modem has ethernet connection if you are presently using USB. If you are currently using USB, the best method would also call for you to add a NIC to your desktop and that would require you to also have a short straight thru CAT5 cable to hook your desktop to router.

Router (BEFW11S4) $100, wireless NIC (WPC11) $60. Best solution if you have Ethernet modem capability.

No router needed with USB but your PC will have to be on and you will need a WAP11 hooked to a wired nic in your PC, end cost about the same but NOT as good.

glc is absolutely right. I just bought the Linksys equipment for $159 plus tax. I also have two mail-in rebates for $10 each. So, that brings down the price to $139! On sale at Best Buy!

I have the wireless router hooke in the bed room to two desktop computers running Linksys NICs and I'm right now in the living room using the WPC11 laptop card to connect wirelessly.

My link quality and connection are both "Excellent - 100%'

Linksys has a great wireless/wired combo router. And the price can't be beaten.
