is there any way that i can track to see where mail goes before it dies? i'm having a mail problem right now, and i want to see exactly where it's stopping.

I'm afraid I don't get it. Are you talking about the incoming mail or the outcoming one?

If you send an email to soandso@domain.com . The server at domain.com will receive the email and attempt to deliver it to an address. If the address doesn't exist, then it will go nowhere. They could bounce it back and tell you that it was undeliverable but most wouldn't do this because of spam protection.

i'm getting this:

Quote:
The original message was received at Tue, 22 Oct 2002 15:48:52 -0700 (PDT)
from daemon@localhost

----- Mail could not be delivered due to errors for the following email addresses -----

----- Transcript of session follows -----
553 my.dsl.line.com. config error: mail loops back to me (MX problem?)
554 ... Local configuration error
it appears to be getting to the domain, and then stopping. the mx records are right, they are pointing to my exchange server. i have a hole punched in my firewall just for incoming mail from my domain, but it seems like nothing is getting through.

Does the email address exist on your server?
