Trouble! Is this some virus' work!?

On my computer I have 2 windowses installed. I usually use one and second one for backup. So I turn it on then open IE. Opens fine because I see google homepage. Then I click on Windows Update option, and I get windows saying "OPERATION CANCELLED" after that, no internet connection is possible with ANY site, and my software like AIM or MSN can't connect either. HOwever when I run the second windows, everything works fine.
***? I am so mad so mad! I don't know what to do!
