Outlook attachment blocking

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...

Computer users were sensible enough to be careful about their own email. Software programmers like those at MS did not have to build attachment blocking into programs like Outlook.

Anyway...Somebody once gave me a link to an Outlook patch that added an options tab enabling somebody to override that lousy feature and receive anything at all.

Anybody have a link to that? I re-installed and need it again.

Thanks in advance...

HI MGood777,

If it's like Outlook Express, there is an option under the Security Tab in the Options dialog that allows that "feature" to be turned on / off.

Send a message via ICQ to JC00
with it turned off, would it be safe from viruses?

With the thing turned on, it seems to think EVERYTHING is a virus!

Well, gee, I'm not a Virus expert, but with a good anti-virus program running, and a firewall, I feel safe.

I would prefer to choose which attachments I open instead of not being allowed to open any at all!!

Thanks for the input and the link to the old post.

I'm still hoping to find the patch that adds an additional tab with these controls to the options dialog box. I know it's out there someplace, and I'd rather have the file that I can share with a few others rather than try and edit the registry each time I want to do this (or help somebody else do it).

Ditto. I found a web site for Xeno Software, but it seems they had nothing to do with this topic...
