Uninstall AOL. Go into add/remove programs, Windows setup and remove dialup networking. Open Networks in control panel and remove all components. Reboot and reinstall AOL.

AOL installs its own custom version of dialup networking along with a VPN adapter and a bunch of other junk. Win98 has a limit of 5 instances of TCP/IP, and if you already have a full house, it can't install its crap.

Send a message via AIM to kittyfire
There's a setting in the nettrans.inf file that you can change to up it from 5 to 8 but I've only ever seen it done with a batch file and I don't have the batch file here to take it apart. Anyone know what the change is?
