Question

I have @home cable internet service and I recently went to there website to upgrade the software that they originally installed in my computer. Now For some reason my download speed tests have been slower then usual and my web pages are taking longer to come up. I used to have internet explorer 5.01 now I have 5.5, could the problem be 5.5? I checked my MTU settings and nothing has changed, BTW my download speed used to be about 2700 kbps now my tests give me about 1700. Also how do I uninstall ie 5.5? I tried going into add/remove programs in control panel but when I click on ie 5.5 then add/remove a box comes up giving me three options, "add a component" or "repair intenet explorer", or "restore the previous windows configuration". I tried the option of, "restore the previous windows configuration" but it actually for some reason restored ie 4.0? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't beleive that IE5.5 is your problem since IE5.5 actually runs faster and is much more stable than IE5.0.

If you really want to uninstall 5.5 then go to windows update, choose products update, then select show all installed updates. Now you can go down to IE5.5 and choose uninstall.

Uninstalling IE 5.5 in add/remove will default to IE 4.0

eggman - yes, if you have 95C or 98FE. 98SE will go back to IE5, and 95B will go back to IE3 I believe.
