ZoneAlarm (free version)

How do you configure Zone Alarm to stop any plug-ins from installing itself?I almost went through the whole Xupiter crapola...!@#$ I hate them.Fortunately I was able to just delete it by right clicking, because the auto loader didn't load because Zone Alarm asked me if I wanted to let it go to the web and I said no,of course.

That's not a featur of ZA, but you can check the advanced tab in IE, tools, internet options. There's a couple there about automatically downloading signed or unsigned things, as well as "Enable install on demand..." for IE and Other...

Xupiter is spyware/adware. It is normally installed via Peer to Peer file sharing programs and it is often required to make some of them work. Others it can be disabled.

sneak preview, I am working on a how to modifiy your hosts file

in c:\windows find the hosts files

right click, open with wordpad
add the following, make sure to keep on one line. That will prevent your browser from going to that site.

127.0.0.1 www.xupiter.com

Hmm, on the above line have about 15 blank spaces between the IP address and the www. I dont' remember right off how to make the spaces. Basically it redirects the request to the website on the rigth to the IP address on the left. 127.0.0.1 is your Local machine. When it can not find the webpage it forgets about it. However I did a find on xupiter on a machine i am working on right now and found lot of entries, I selected all and deleted, no side effects yet.
