Filter---pop-ups.....

I am trying to find a good pop-up filter / add killer.
I have tried a few with minimal success.
Web-Washer worked great with 98, but not with XP.
Which is the OS I am using. I recently got cable aqnd it has become more important then before.
Any decent programs would be appreciated.

I use AdSubtract Pro.... works good... almost too good. When you get to a site with a popup window that you actually need... you have to add that site to the filter list and tell it that the popups are ok.

adfree3.1 from download.com works pretty good, I am reviewing it for a future post in tips and tricks. I can say it really cuts down on the pop ups.

Mozilla has a popup stopper built in. (edit, preferences, advanced, scripts & plugins, uncheck "open unrequested windows"). I also recommend panicware's popup stopper for IE.

thanks

thanks,
I went to download.com and did a search for adfree 3.1 and got nothing, in the download section, and the whole site. so i did a search on google and it sent me to a adfree page. when I started the download--it sent me guess where? download.com. Go figure!

I will give them a try, thanks again

thanks again for the response.
I have tried about evey popup stopper...... firewall out there.
I use TPF for a firewall. If you don't know how to configure a firewall, its a great one to learn on. If you don't want to or know how to, stay away from it.
The best pop up stopper I have found, from up above, is ADSUBTRACT. This thing "REALLY" works well.
Ive tried to beat it and I can't.
There are certain sites that will pulverize you with adds/popups.... and this lets not a one thru. You can set the sounds, to birds, so it lets u kno when it blocked, and at the really bad sites it sounds like a bird santuary.
BUT it is share ware. and it costs.
oh well, at least for 30 days I will be popup free.
thanks again

You might also try Smart Explorer. It is shareware, but it stops pop ups dead.

I tried it and liked it enough to buy it. No credit card, no problem. You can also use PayPal to pay for it.
