Webmail

I was thinking I should use a web based email for when I sign up for things I know will get me spam and such, but what's the best one and can I get viruses through webmail?

I use hotmail for that.

hotmail is virus scanned, however there is a always a better virus out there. At least in Hotmail you have the option to delete with out opening.

And it is free. 2meg

Another vote for yahoo, as it gives you 6MB of space.

www.activatormail.com - virus scan and intelligent spam filtering (unlike hotmail's sorry excuse for spam filtering)

Activator mail. Super spam/trojan filters that yahoo and hotmail just don't have.

If you just want a "throwaway" account to augment your regular account, Yahoo is as good as any.
