MSN 8 & clearing auto complete
Clearing the auto complete with ie does't clear your typed entries on MSN explorer, if you go to msn explorer settings you'll find:
"AutoComplete: In MSN, you cannot modify or disable AutoComplete." I found another thread about the same subject and took morriswindgate's advice and downloaded and ran a program called "SpyBot Search and Destroy". It sure did get rid of a lot of crap but AutoComplete is still working on MSN 8. Is it possible that MSN can save your entries on there server, or are these little boogers still hidding on my computer somewhere? My sister-in-law and 11-year old neice are moving in with us soon and I don't need the kid going to some search engine and start to type something and see any "adult" type entry I may have made in the past 2 years that I've been using MSN explorer. PLEASE HELP! |

Take Blue's advice. Then for browsing of that kind, use IE or Mozilla. Go to Internet options under control panel to diable auto complete.

Sorry, I should have mentioned that I uninstalled an earlier version of MSN explorer and then loaded MSN version 8 just prior to starting this thread and that didn't clear out any entries, as far as going to ie, I wish I could but ie doesn't work right, it either loads pages too slow or freezes ( I'm sure it has a lot to do with the fact that I'm only running with 64mb of ram that's only 61% free) one of these days I'll get around to learning how to free up ram or better yet, just buy about 256, but that's another thread.
Please more help on clearing auto complete on msn explorer |

I run just fine on 64, even when I've got a lot open. Sounds like you need some serious window cleaning anyway. Did you try these?:
~Make sure you completely uninstalled all versions. Sometimes there can be more than one version of the same program on your computer. (I had this problem with AOL once.) ~Do a search on your hard drive for anything resembling the program. I believe you should find a folder that has archived program information, deep within the scary windows folder. Delete it. ~If you're confident about regedit, you can try to delete all entries that have to do with the program. If you know specific words that would come up in autocomplete, you could search for these entries as well. (If you don't know what regedit is, forget it.) ~Finally, the cure-all for any windows problem: reinstall windows. Let us know what you end up doing and what works, I'm curious about this... ~K |
