Can't login to hotmail!
When ever I type in my username and password and then click login - I get the "page not found" error. I restarted my pc. No luck. I also tried accessing it using Netscape. No luck!
By the way, nothing is wrong with my account. I can check it from this computer! It's the other computer from which I can't access my account. All other websites work fine. I am currently using Win Xp and Internet Explorer 6.0 Please assist me to solve this agonizing problem!! Thanks!! |

If it's only on one page from one computer, there is some reason the two don't get along. First, try checking a different security option when you login. You may have something in your settings that doesn't like certain types of security or lack of.
If that doesn't work, I'd try deleting all temporary internet files - esp. cookies. ~K |

Yeah actually I tried that before and I have everything set to default. No luck. Beside I tried using Netscape to connect - No luck! I was searching on the net for my answer and came up with a thread where the guy who had the problem claimed he "found the answer, it was the proxy - just changed it and hotmail is running" - Well I have proxy set to automatic! That shouldn't be a problem right?
Thanks for your reply

I'm not sure if older versions of netscape will work with hotmail. It just tends to dislike almost everything except IE.

GameZilla, Netscape doesn't suck. Just some people don't like it and some people do. Also, some people like certain versions while other's they dislike. I personally don't care for Netscape but I don't think it "sucks".

Whether you think it "sucks" or not, that has nothing to do with solving this issue. Stay on topic and if you want to debate the merits of browsers, do it in the General Discussion forum.
Try unchecking the "automatic" proxy, leave all the boxes unchecked on the lan settings page. |

I'm a little confused. People are making suggestions to change settings to the proxy; but I am under the impression the poster is already confirmed he is on the network and can access pages but can't get to this page. If that is true then I don't see how proxy settings are going to help. If that is not true then I understand why we are suggesting to test the proxy settings.

Yeah I can access everything but that page (my account) after clicking login. I am using Explorer, so anymore suggestion. This is really pissing me off
I hate to be the first one to have such a problem. Now I hope all of you get the same problem, so I can get the fix!! Should I uninstall Explorer! If yes, what's a good way to uninstall - wiping out all setting - , so the new installation don't get the current setting! |

The only thing I can think off is deleting "all" offline files, temp files, cookies, and even the index.dat file. That should do it. The only other thing I can see it being is security but I doubt that's the issue.

HOw do I delete index.dat file??
By the way, is there any other way, like let's say the 'host' file is blocking my access. I checked the host file it's fine. But is there any other way?? |

You might be able to get rid of it from "safe mode"
