What's the point of a firewall if....
your not running any services?

In my opinion a firewall is a must if you have a dsl or cable connection, any "always on" connection leaves you more vulnerable. Besides that, a good firewall can also keep spyware running on your machine from accessing the internet.

The point is that if a “Trojan” is installed, the firewall will block all attempts to contact it.

Vulnerabilities in your networked computer arent only if you have any services - its to protect you in case someone else is running a "service" (gaining unauthorized access).

Some of them, not all as is true with most virus programs. However, your best bet if you're worried about trojans is to just d/l a free zonealarm firewall.
