Q? about routing 2 comps=>cable modem
i have a cable modem (isp=optimum online)
the isp says that for an additional computer in the house to be connected to the internet i need another cable modem.... but can't i just use a cable/dsl router with some cat5 cable and have both my computers running through the one cable modem..... would this work and could they detect this on their network and disconnect my service thanx for the help APOTHACON |

Yes you can do it, no they won't detect anything and turn off your service, since you'll still be using only one of their IPs and will have the same bandwidth limits.
I've had the best luck with Netgear routers, others like Linksys as well. In the router setup you simply need to set it up to look for an IP address via DHCP, and you should be up and running. |
