Strored Info

Hi guys,i've got a question for the experts that i hope you can help me with.I want to know if it is possible to extract information from my hardrive even after it has been deleted. There was a lot of info i was meaning to copy of websites that i had gone through that had similar forum layout as this forum.I was going to copy it down offline cause the info was stored in my temp files but the temp internet files got deleted and the website is no longer available. Is it there any way i would still be able to recover it and in the same way it looked when it was dowloaded? Also my brothers computer had similar info but it was delted years ago would that still be possible, all this info is really valuable to me so your help is appreciated.Thankyou

"If" you haven't written much to the drive you "might" be able to RECOVER the data.

Search this message board for: recovery. You'll probably find a few threads on this very subject.

Yeah i just searched the forum, there's a lot on recovery but not specifically on temp internet files.Once the temp internet files are deleted whether manually or automatically are they gone completely or do they get stored somewhere?I really need these internet pages badly any ideas guys?

Cool

If you know the names of the (html?) files you're missing, you can try a 'find' for the files. It is possible, although not probable, that they are hiding somewhere. I believe Temporary Internet Files are deleted completely when they are deleted. (I assume you've already hastily looked looked through the recylce bin.) The only other way is, as mentioned above, recovery. You need to know what you're looking for, though.

Also: Are these the only places the information you're looking for is? If it was on a web site at one time, could it still be out there on another site? Or is this a site you did yourself and have deleted?

Good Luck!

good luck indeed...

recovery is a pain and that's why backup is so important.. you can try using the undelete software from executive but i've never used it.. it supposedly recovers remnants of files left on your hd if it hasn't been overwritten but being that it was stored in your temp internet files.. you're most likely SOL.

Thanks for the replies,i tried the searching in the recycle bin and searching for files but no luck.I can' access the site cause it's been taken down for good but when it was up i went through a lot of the info, seeing as everytime you visit a site the pages get downloaded on your hard drive into your temp internet files i thought even if there deleted from the folder they might be somewhere else on the hard drive.Am i making sense here guys cause i don't know all that much about computers. If recovery of these html pages that were in my temp internet folder is possible could you recomend a programe that i can download of the net suitable for this application? Thankyou

If you remember the site name or some details, do a Google search and use their cache of the pages. You can also try the "wayback machine" at www.archive.org .

It seems most of the pictures on that site don't come up,i don't know why.Does anyone know why if i try to save a page with pictures on it like the following URL they don't download? They can be saved separately but not with the page

http://web.archive.org/web/199701100...ec/dec96-2.htm

Also anyone got any tips for my previous question about flash files? Thanks in advance.......
