DSL connection

I am considering moving into a house with roommates. The room comes wired with dsl. My concern is how secure will my hard drive be since this line seems to be shared among 3 parties in the house. Thanks.

It'll be as secure as you make it. DSL isn't inherently vulnerable, it's how the computer(s) are attached, what OS they run, and if any firewall is in place.
If you MUST share that connection, your absolute best option is to purchase a router. At minimum, I would have Zonealarm or equivalent running 24/7, and password protected too.
Make sure you have no files or folders shared on your computer.

Can you give me options on routers? I have 2 computers. Can I connect them both to this router and have dsl on both? I suppose the dsl connection goes to the router from the back and then I would be connecting both my computers to the router in the front? Thanks.

The idea behind a router, is to connect as many computers as you have to all use one connection, with the best possible security. So the answer is Yes, you can have DSL on both.
Linksys, SMC, and D-Link are 3 good manufacturer's of routers.
Most have had the best luck (easiest setup) with Linksys, although I have no trouble with SMC or D-Link.
Find out how the connection is shared before spending any money, you may already be behind a router, and only need a bit of added software security.
