Angry File transfer in MSN

Can anyone tell me why I cant transfer files like pictures or video or sounds in MSN. I'm running win xp with a 56k modem. Everything else seems ok so I assume its a setting thats not right.
When I try to transfer a file it trys connecting but never gets to the recieving part of the transfer.

Any ideas

Do you have a firewall set up or are you on a network?

Also can you receive and just not send or will it not work at all?
