IE 6 and java
Hi there,
I have a problem with IE6, when I try to access a site that uses Java it prompts me to download and install the applet, but when I do so it ends up in a page in the M$ site telling me that I need to use Windows Update. However in the Windows Update list of updates no java is mentioned. What gives? What do I need to do? TIA for the input.

Well in IE6, you should be able to go to Tools>Internet Options and click on the advanced tab. There you should be able to check off, under Microsoft VM,"Java console enabled", "Java logging enabled", and "JIT compiler for virtual machiine enabed". This will enable Java. I had the same problem before and this fixed it. HTH.

IE6 no longer comes with the Java VM. So I had to download the plug in.
Another attempt from M$ to force users to support ActiveX and eradicate Java??

True, even the old JRE M$ used to ship with Windows was an outdated and a broken one.
