Yahoo Games Misdirect hotlinks
I haven't been able to access Yahoo's games for several months now. I always got the "the page cannot be displayed" error. For months, I thought it was down. I knew it wasn't just my browser settings, because I couldn't access it from any computer I tried. My parents have had the same problem.
(Yahoo shopping and weather seemed to occassionally have the same problem. But they would eventually come back up. Games didn't.) When I tried it today, I noticed the direct link looked a bit weird. For example, starting on their main games page: http://games.yahoo.com/ You pick a game from their list. If you pick a certain cardgame, you get here: http://rd.yahoo.com/games/front/pi/?...login2?page=pi (Does that link acctually work for anyone? It's that link gives me the error I was talking about.) So today, I chopped the link down manually to: http://games.yahoo.com/games/login2?page=pi And it works! I'm get to the game server without any problems. So what's up with that? Is there some common setting in XP or IE that causes that link to not work, or did Yahoo screw up when their coder wrote that link? I suspect the former. I find it hard to believe that Yahoo doesn't notice that error for several months. |

Hmm. That's odd. Like I said, I've encountered this on several computers.
