Wierd Lan Network speeds?

Ok here my situation, I got 2 computer on my lan hooked through a router with the proper protocals installed, My speed is 1 meg second when i pull a file off my network shares from computer 2 which is a amd 1700+ with 614meg ram with win , i pull the file from a 200 mhz file server with windows me the , now when i send a file to my 200 mhz box from the 1700+ i get upload speed of only 15-20 kbs, now i have 10/100 lan cards in both machines,
the problem is wierd i really have no clue what to do. its pretty mind boggling , It also locks my 1700+ box when i try to send a file occasionally.

Rather wierd situation any insite would be greatly appreciate,
Anthony

Check to see if the ME machine is running at full duplex (properties on the network card in control panel/network).

You probably also want to tweak the ME machine's network settings a bit upward in terms of packet size and such, there are very good guides on how to do so at http://www.speedguide.net
