changing search path when searching from the address bar

Someone recently installed crap on one of my boxes and now when ever you try to search from the address bar you are sent to xupiter as the search engine.

Does anyone know how to change it back to the original settings???

Thanks in advance
Jeremy

Send a message via AIM to Fuze
Click the search button in the browser, and if you have XP at least if you click a websearch button, you can change the default search website to whatever you like. However, personally I downloaded the google toolbar and that is a great, useful tool, in my oppinion.

First get rid of Xupiter by using Ad-Aware or Spybot S&D. Then you can change your search page.

I removed xupiter but now when I search from the address bar ie tries to open whatever I type in as a web page.

I tried what fuze suggested but that only changes where it searches when I hit the search button on the tool bar.

I also checked in tools to make sure it is set to allow searching from the address bar.

Anyone know how to change the search path when searching from the address bar

Thanks in advance
Jeremy

I have tried the reset to default button I also tried the advanced properties located in the search area that comes up when I hit the search button.

I even tried exporting all ie registry setting from another user and merging them with my user. all i got was there home page.

Ehen I type in the address bar the little auto complete drop down shows up. Even if I select search for whatever I typed it still tries to open it as an address. Something is defenatly screwy

Perhaps I shall just create another user for myself unless anyone has more suggestions.

Thanks in advance
Jeremy

I tried to create a new user and the new user has the same problem. Users who were created prior to the problem work fine.

Something is screwed up some where, probabaly in the registry.
I'm at a loss if anyone has any ideas I am open to suggestions.

Try this site http://www.google.com/options/defaults.html
Scroll down the page a bit to see how to make google your default search engine. It also has a file to return you to the IE Default
