Yahoo mail
I can't forward e-mails by checking the names in my address book. No problem typing the address in and sending it. Running win 98se. Anyone have any ideas? I have already deleted the internet files, upgraded IE and checked system files. Any help appreciated.

ive experienced a similar problem with yahoo. i log in, type my mail, and when i click adress book, it gave an error page,
it seemed like my login was lost. it keeps happening with ie. i even had problems here sometimes when i took long to type a post, if i clicked 'post', i got a page 'you are not logged in'. i was runnin win98 untill very recently and now win2000, but the problem remains in IE. my solution for this problem was simply to switch to mozilla; ive tried it in win98 and 2000, no more problems. and i have to say that i like it a whole lot better than IE. the only strange thing with mozilla is that the window where i am typing my text right now is only half as wide as in IE.

I use Mozilla alot myself, but this is for an older lady and she doesn't want to use anything but IE. I thought upgrading IE and making sure the security settings were alright would solve this, but no luck. Any other ideas?

is the problem you are having the same as i described in my previous post?
Does it work in mozilla or does it also give this errors? as far as i can make something of it, it seems that the login is lost too quickly. I dont know if there's a possibilty to change the time your 'login' is active. i'd try mailing IE tech support http://support.microsoft.com/default...id=FH;EN-US;ie or maybe yahoo tech support. (although i think the problem is IE related. maybe its a long shot but try logging in to yahoo, and asap inserting an address into a mail. maybe its something like it loses the name and password right after login, and checks again when you click 'insert adresses, but cant find it than. im goin sleep now (gettin kinda late here) ill check this post again tomorrow morning. id also like to know what could be causing this. My problem is different than yours. When I have the e-mail open and click forward, then insert addresses, the address book opens fine, when I check any names that I want to forward the mail to, the window changes to white and just stays that way. As long as you type in the names you want it forwarded to, there is no problems. I know it's not yahoo, cause it works fine on another computer.

Speaking of yahoo, it says I'm using 66% of my inbox when I only have about 10 emails of about 9 kb each. My trash and bulk mail is empty. Any ideas?

Fuze: Look in your other folders - sounds like you have a lot in your saved and/or sent items.

Problem solved! It was so easy I just couldn't see it. She has the internet with a local company and it is really slow, if you try to insert the names before the page completely loads it will hang every time. As long as you let the page completely load it will insert them right.

Try deleting all the folders that you have added (i.e. all those except inbox, draft, sent, bulk, and trash).
To do that, click on "Folders" from your main view (or inbox), and then click on "delete" beside each one that has that option. Once you've done that, you should have no message in that "folders" screen, and the total size should be zero (assuming you have already cleared out the system folders). HTH, David. |

I never made any folders. All I have is the default ones.
I even went the the page which summarizes how much space you're using. It says I'm using 1015k. Yet the little warning thing says I'm using 85% of my inbox, over 3 megs. Last time I checked, 1015k was not 3 megs. Wait, nvm problem solved Evidently there was 812k in my trash bin that had no "messages". 0 messages with a size of 812k. So I "emptied" the trash and magically 3 megs were gone. Weird. Last edited by Fuze; 02-02-2003 at 07:54 AM. |
