The software does nothing that you cannot quickly do. And sometimes the software contains spyware.
Just go here and tweak the DUN settings. Additionally you probably have a Winmodem, so you could replace it with an internal hardware modem. http://tweakhomepc.virtualave.net/modems/dun.html |

No winmodem for me! I have a US Robotics 56K v.92 PCI modem. I just bought it about a month ago, hoping it would help.
If I put my mouse pointer on my connection it says, connected at 53333 bps. My big problem I find is when playing on-line games (TFC) my ping ranges from 230 - 1000. It seems to bouce all over the place. |

All those "speed up" programs do is set a huge cache that you have no control over.
So yeah, I guess it would appear fast, since you're not even getting the current page, rather just something from last week spit out at you from your hard drive. Maybe it's just me, but I don't consider a program to be "speeding up" anything if it takes bandwidth to load ad banners either .

Slow that connection down and I would bet that your pings will decrease.

I connect through my USR external serial modem at about 53333 and when I play 'need 4 speed porsche' over the internet my ping will stay right around 100, most of the time it is lower then that.
