Question Opera Problem

I'm having a problem with Opera's address bar and on links sent to me through AIM.
I get this message:
The address is not available to this machine.

Examples are when I type in a URL in the address bar and hold Cntl key and enter, I will get that message. I will get the message if I type the whole URL, but I can go to Google and get there ok.

Also, some links sent by a friend on AIM will give the same message.

I went through preferences, looking for a setting to change but haven't yet.
I'm using Opera 7 and it is set to be the default browser.
TIA,
Carl

I easily get my self into a rut. I've used IE for so long its hard to break habits.
With Opera 7, just enter the name of the site and click enter.
Thanks to glc for keeping this old man abreast of things.
