Cable @ 128kbps
I'm considering my broadband options and my cable company offers these speeds at these prices:
64kpbs --- 15 bucks 128kbps --- 26 bucks 256kbps --- 52 bucks I can also s'possedly get ADSL @ 256kbps for 60 bucks. I was thinking of the 128k cable. Is this good? Also, it will be shared between 4 machines. TIA for your input.

if you have the money to get adsl, get adsl. you have to think about the computers using the connection, if theyre all going to be on at the same time then adsl would b a good idea, if not get a cheaper connection

Yup, the comps will be using the connection at the same time. It's for a cybercafe I'm starting.

I would go witht he 128cable, seems like a good price for the performance, but peak hours might be an issue, though you live in Mexico, so maybe that isnt as big of an issue there as here.

Dialup = 56kbps
128 is only twice that, 4 machines using a 128kbps connection at the same time would be slower than dialup. |

Unless Mexico telcos are weird in how they advertise bandwidth, the units are the same.

They are weirdos in how much they charge for the service. It's darn expensive!

Even 256k is not enough for a cybercafe in my opinion.

Yup, you really should be considering a T1 minimum. Maybe if you could get 1 meg sync DSL you could scrape by with that, but I'm assuming that's not available to you

Cable @ 256 it will be folks. It's all I can afford.
![]() Xayd, Telmex has ADSL 2000kbps, but at 500 bucks a month is way too much for me. |

I have three computers hooked up on broadband through a 4 port router. One of the good things with broadband is that their is no loss for connecting multiple computers. They all run fast.
256 is the way to go. |
