Block Mail on AOL

My friend uses AOL and keeps getting spam mail from Yahoo. He does not know how to block it. I don't use AOL and don't know how they block mail. Can you tell me what to do?

Hello Mejohnjrk,

What version of AOL is he using? If he is using AOL 8.0, he can click on the "Report and Black" button when he reads his email. This will report the spam to AOL and also block the e-mail address.

I think that report option only works for individual address you block, and as you may know, where there is the name "hotnsxybod1" there is also "hotnsxybod1-1000" so he will be hitting that report button like 100 times a day, especially is he is an avid chat room user, and since he doesnt know how to work the ail setting hiimself I would suppose he is a new user, and he will DEFINETLY be using chat's, everyone goes through that phase, but anyway, it been a while, but lets see if I can remember, I believe you click on "mail controls" or "mail preferences" this option will be in the upper left hand corner of the AOL window, right about his mailbox icon, anyways, get to there, and then there should be some options there like "email control" or "email prefrences" and there are a couple of options you can choose between, like "only accept email from aol members" or "only accept email from people on my buddy list" stuff like that, at that point its all about preference, they should be able to decide what the proper mail control for them should be, Im assuming its 8.0, I ditched AOL at 6.0 or 7.0, and have had minimal experience with 8.0, but I think everything should still be in that order, only real thing they chage on each verison is how well they can keep track of your actions...so those directions should help them

If it's still like it used to be, you can block the whole Yahoo domain in the mail controls.
