Question Javascript and IE6 sp1 browsing

I have no ideas what this could be, I disabled:
Firewall
I enabled
all java settings in options/advanced and security.

I am attempting to open a link and it just hangs there until I close the page... nothing loads.
I right clicked, and it says that it is Java script ... don't know if that
's the problem but it worked fine.
Did Microsoft disable something in their automatic updates that we don't know about.

HELP!

The java you enable has to do with java applets, which is different than javascript. Javascript is just kind of an add-on language that does things that HTML can't, or if it does in some cases, it makes it easier.

Don't discount the possibility that there could be an error in the script. By the way, where's the link you are trying to open?

I'm getting the same thing.

When I click on ANY link, I get another IE browser window starting to open - WinXP adds another program to the task bar but no WINDOW ever opens - but I never get a full open browser.

HELP!

Ah. Okay I think I see what you're asking now. Does start with"javascript:"? If that is the case, then you can't open it in a new window. you have to click on it normally.

I hope this helps.

FIXED IT.

I simply downloaded and installed Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1.

Do a google.com search for Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1 and you should be able to go directly to a Microsoft website where you can download it.

Hope it helps YOU too!

I had thought that Cliff already has the SP1 installed (it says" IE6 SP1").

I guess if you can't get it to work, try installing SP1 again. If it still doesn't work, try uninstalling IE and reinstall it. I can't remember if your favorites stay, so you may want to back them up.

Yes I did install SP1, I tried to look into add/remove programs but Internet Explorer or IE sp1 is nowhere to be found ...?
I tried to re install from Microsoft but I keep receiving a message saying that "setup has found a newer version of this product and can't continue" then it closes.

Any suggestions

What O/S are you running?

Try sticking in the windows CD and remove IE from windows that way.

The original software did not include Virtual Machine and SP1 readded this software. You can also download VIrtual Machine by doing a Google search for it, however the only way you can get it from MS is with SP1. And for modem users you are talking 130MB versus 5 MB.

Thanks Lord Prism ... I registered the dll regsvr32 /i urlmon.dll
and all works great now.
I have no idea why it worked before and suddenly stopped but I guess what counts is that it works now.
Thanks to all you guys for all your help, I now have a better understanding of Ie6 and Javascript.

Gracias!
