Uninstall Zone Alarm - and make sure to check their site for complete removal instructions.
It happens. |

Your router has a built in firewall and is conflicting with Zone Alarm. Remove Zone Alarm.

Hello again,
well I still cant figure it out,the only way to solve it now is to click the reset button on the router every time it stops working.Internet connection then will be back on for a day or two,I'm not sure if this had to do with anything but the router is in my bro's room which is a mini house in the back yard,so he has his own switch box,but a couple of days ago he had a faulty lamp that caused the one of the switch box thing to reset,it happened about three times. This problem didn't happen before the lamp thing happened,so could it be a dead router?ZoneAlarm? |

could be signs of router dying. Is it hooked up to a surge suppressor?

Do a hard reset on the router and reconfigure it.

If there isn't a reset button, powering off for about 1 minute and then posering back on will do a reset.

On a Linksys, you pull the power cord, hold the reset button in, then plug the power cord back in and keep the reset button in for about 15 seconds. A simple power cycle like Chas suggests won't set it back to factory defaults, which is what you want to do. If it's not a Linksys, check the manufacturer's support documents for the procedure.

glc it is a D-Link DI 604 broadband router,in the manual,it says that clicking the reset button on the back puts it back to factory defaults, did this a lot of times problem keeps coming back.I'll try doing it the Linksys way today and see how it goes.I wonder if it all comes back to Zonealarm though?

Have you checked to make sure the modem itself isn't dropping sync?

Look at the modem lights - if the "cable" light is blinking, it's dropped sync.

Try switching ports around, see if the problem stays with the computer or the port. I had a DI-604 that port 3 and only port 3 would stop working. Reset it and it would work for a couple of minute to acouple of days and go bad again.
