I think sometimes the connection times out and only counts a few. What do you expect for a free program that packs that much spyware in your system? It is not like MS that makes super programs with great support.

Actually when they do upgrades if you lag behind I think they give you a more poor selection of places to download from until you upgrade. check for upgrades. been a few weeks since I have been on it.

If you ever have problems with Kazaa, try WinMX, just as many users but with better searchs and more selection.

I was talking with the father of a friend of my daughters.' He tells me that his computer caught a virus last week from KaZaa. I have heard similar stories from other parents. Around here folks are becoming very, very reluctant to let their kids us KaZaa.

I know what you mean, I kept getting viruses, but they were little pathetic ones that Norton Antivirus could deal with. The main ones seems to be W32.HLLP.Handy and Backdoor.CRAT. All they need is a virus checker and problem sorted! The repaired files work after they have been vacinated as well.

Shareware and viruses two different things. When you get virus is when you get a file from a Kazaa user. Kazza is just service provider. It's up to the users to keep Virus Scan running and up to date.

I agree, I don't see why you should stop using a perfectly good service just because you don't have AV software. YOu may stop using Kazaa, but might get virii from other downloads and emails. If you have Kazaa Media Desktop, they have AV software called Bullguard which stops any virii being able to share by scaning it and then quarantening it. Again, Kazaa is a community service, therefore it is up to the individual users to protect there systems as there is no central server that monitors shares. Why do you think it is called Peer to Peer?

Don't forget Spybot...I had issues when this annoying spyware app was on my PC and Adaware couldn't find it but Spybot came and conquered.

Another way to disable Spyware and Adware would be to delete the registry entries or just d/l a port blocker and set it to block the ports being used to transmit the info. Some firewalls can be set to not allow pop ups etc to be sent form specific domains, like Norton Personal Firewall.

I use Kazaa Lite, as said above no spyware. Once when I used the full Kazaa Media Desktop, I kept getting viruses, but stupid, joke ones that PCillin took care of easily.....

Kazaa Lite is worth its while, but I have used both versions, and you will find the stupid virii on .exe files quite often. W32.HLLP.Handy is the main contender I think.

I got a ton pf spyware on my computer when I installed Kazaa. You can download the Kazaa Lite which is the same program but the spyware is removed. Also the download comes with a autosearch tool too.

Ok, I think we should all agree to stay away from Media Desktop unless you can remove the spyware and adware, and drift towards the wonders of hacked software.

Does WinMX have any spyware in it?

Nevermind, I just read the whole page, says it doesn't, lol.
