I have a dial-up connection (MSN) and use Yahoo mail but sometimes rather than loging on to Yahoo I'd like to use Outlook to send a simple message. I'm also running a LAN Website developed with FrontPage 2000 and the E-Mail Links that I create there bring up Outlook but do not work either. Is there some setting that I'm missing? My LAN uses Win XP, Win 2K, and Win 98 so I have several different versions of Outlook

The only way you can use Outlook is if you have a standard POP e-mail account - a webmail account is just that. If you want a free POP account, go to www.myrealbox.com .

Got a "MyRealBox" account but Outlook still doesn't work. It will put outgoing mail ina "que" but will not send it. Is there some settings under "options" or "settings" that I need to alter?

You need to define an outgoing SMTP server that will work - MSN may be blocking port 25 and you will have to use one of their servers.
If you aren't locked into a contract with MSN, consider getting a non-proprietary ISP like Earthlink. MSN is getting as bad as AOL these days, they are trying to totally eliminate POP mail. |
