Anything wrong with WinMX?

See above. Up until now, I have zealously kept my dear, dear gaming system clean of P2P file-sharing programs, fearing spyware that will bog my rig down. However, I need to download a few tunes. I heard that WinMX does not contain any spyware. Is this true? Does it do anything unwanted? Thanks.......

AWD,

Have you tried Kazaa Lite? It is faster than regular Kazaa and doesn't contain the spyware that is found usually with Kazaa. Just run spybot and remove the spyware if it is found and you will be fine.

I havent heard of WINMX containing Spyware.

WinMX has no spyware and it's format is like napster. Installs quick and doesn't take up a lot of space and more important it will cleanly uninstall.

How great are the dangers of getting a virus/trojan etc. through WinMX?

Well I would only DL MP3s and forget the other formats. ANd it is no more/no less than any other P2P, just keep the AV turned on and scan the folder (not individual files) before you play them.
