Can't open links...

Usually when I click on a link that opens a new window and goes to that website, without any problem. All of a sudden, when I click on a link that opens a new window, it just says Microsft Internet Explorer in the newly opened tab on the bottom and nothing happens. Any idea how to correct this or how I can make IE not open a new window everytime I click a link?

Have you tried rebooting yet? Yesterday mozilla just stopped opening up when clicking links in emails or aim, and a reboot fixed it. Just a thought.

Yup, rebooted, did a virus check and all of that jazz. I can't even get to Windows Update to try upgrading to IE 6.0 - I am using IE 5.5 with Service Pack #2...

Have you tried repairing IE? That's one of the options when you do an add/remove on it.

Did the REPAIR as you suggested and that took care of it. Thank you, GLC. Again, I can count on this forum for help!

links won't open

I have a similar prob click a link in an email msg and a new blank window opens instead of going to the site.Or click a link on a site and same thing happens.

Have win xp,ie6,OE. I recently installed 2 auto updates from MS 822925 IE6 patch & 823718 a data access update.
Are these updates the cause of this prob???

thanks
