can connect but can't go to anywhere

ok my brother inlaw hs an h.p. (700 mhz,64 ram 20 gig hhd) and last week he started having problems to connect to internet:
when he clic to dial up an error message apear saying error 630
i uninstall and reinstall modem driver and now it is abvle to dial up and connect, (i.e.) but can not find any place comes back telling to check settings checked and all looks normal and still do same (will not go to any page)
ii tryed conecting to my internet company using my name and i.d. and i can connect but still same thing.
i took computer to my house and did same.

installe and odl used modem and sill same.
installed a new modem and same thing.
removed and reinstall i.e. and same thing
installed netscape and same thing.
remove and reinstall driver and still same.
shlould i recover, i have the recovery cd that came with the computer,
any sugestions before do the recovery, thanks

Yes, there are some simple things to try, but please tell us what version of Windows he has first.

Go into control panel - networks - and remove all components. Reboot, open up a Run box, type INETWIZ, follow the prompts. If you run the restore CD, make sure all the original hardware is back in the machine.
