Computer Issues - Seem to be tied into IE.
Issues being that when I startup the computer or attempt to open any window (ANY window), I get a window that says to check the Content Advisor Settings for missing information. And then when I go to do that (EVERY TIME), I have to reset it to allow all sites, then (and only then) I get to disable it. It resets every single time, too. And all the settings are at 0, which means that no sites will open until this happens. For me, it's a hassle. For my roommate (who's pretty electronically disinclined but she has to use the computer sometimes for schoolwork and she has an email account) it's impossible to navigate.
I'm pretty confident that I can fix it, I just have to know what the problem is, exactly. The computer is a DELL Optiplex GX1, I got her last summer, used, from DELL. I've been pretty pleased with her so far; I transferred a bunch of files from my old hard drive to the new one back before Christmas (some of you all helped me figure that one out, which is why I'm back!) and was considering checking out the RAM on the old computer to see if it's compatible with the new (thinking that possibly more RAM might help processing speed and whatnot). I'm running IE 5.5 Should I possibly just upgrade IE? Or should I upgrade my antivirus software and see if I've got a virus? Thanks all! -Janna PS - If necessary, I'll just take her and the old computer into the shop at the same time and see what they can do, but I'd rather not have to spend the money. |

I believe I had this problem before..Run a repair installation of IE, or simply update to a newer version.

The best thing is to just update IE and then run Windows Update to get all the IE patches.
The Dell you have is probably a PC133 RAM machine, and the prices are pretty cheap on the stuff right now. |
