Receiving attachments in Outlook Express 6 on WinXP Pro

The Message is:

"OE removed access to the following unsafe attachments in your e-mail: san-francisco.jsp"

I can read the message but the attachment didn't open. I send myself a .jpg attachment and it worked. I know .jsp is a java file but I am not sure if this is the problem or if the attachment was really unsafe. What is the problem here?

This is by design but there is a workaround.

I am currently not running any anti-virus programs in this computer. Which utilities can you recommend to scan for viruses after I save an attachment?

I'd download AVG (www.grisoft.com) and install it. Outhouse Express isn't even safe if you DON'T open attachments.

try going to out look express go to tool/options/click on the security tab /un-check the box that says "do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus"

that should do it

The reasons I suggest AVG are twofold - it scans incoming e-mail automatically and it's free. Housecall is just a manual scanner (but a very good one).

Outhouse Express is not safe without some kind of background e-mail scanner, be it AVG, Norton, or PC-Cillin.

I downloaded AVG. It's slow but works good. Thanks.
