Which is the best Browser

I have been using I.E ever since I been connected to the internet and was quite happy to a certain extent with its performance apart from the usual freeze up etc. but in a recent post I was advised to install Netscape or Mozilla. which led me to wonder what is the best browser out there.
I had never heard of Mozilla. I guess there are probably others too. I would be very interested to hear from other members on their opinions on this as to the best browser they have found and if it wil run okay with other browsers installed.

i switched to mozilla allmost a year ago, and IE is simply never being used anymore on my system. the cookie, popup and so much more settings are so much better than ie.
i know from previous posts that many pple here use mozilla

netscape wont be much worse i guess
since mozilla is a 'netscape clone '
there are some more free browers like
opera and phoenix, but i have heard mixed opinions about those, havent tried em myself though

I've used 'em all. IE 6 is my favorite, although Mozilla stopped the pop-ups. Now that I use ZA Pro with IE 6 there are no pop-ups. And it's a tad faster as well.

Well, it's the other way around, AOL is funding the Mozilla project so they can use the code in Netscape and eventually the AOL browser in the future, so Netscape is more the Mozilla clone than the other way around.

Opera and Mozilla are the two most feature-filled browsers out there right now.

I personally use Mozilla 1.3, don't really care for the Opera interface but it's a matter of preference I suppose.

ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla/releases

Be sure to do a custom install and leave out what you don't want.

My favorite would have to be Mozilla although I am currently using IE just because I am to lazy to download Mozilla. But pop-up blocking is great and so is the interface.

I use this Free browser , MyIE which has a built in pop up stopper . ( don't add , About Blank ,
to your filter list )
Uses very little resources ( No Add's ) & is as good as any other browser .
Intergrates quitely into your system , does not take over . you can still run your normal
browser , if you wish .

Cancel the Chinese to English download box , it's now in English .

MyIE32e is the 3rd item in the left hand column , no need to download the English translation .

That alone is enough to keep me with IE6

At the moment I have IE6, along with Zone Alarm, I do get a few popups but I can live with that.
Previously I had Netscape and I'm thinking about going back or getting Mozilla.
I note that another "innovative" e-mail attack could motivate change in a hurry.

n1cholas - AOL's browser is an embedded version of IE.

AOL may be funding Mozilla, but it's open source, no AOL influence. AOL takes Mozilla and throws all their crap in and calls it Netscape.

Opera7 with its build in pop-up stopper. It's very rare that I ever see a pop-up.

IE6 with Netcaptor, which is a shell with lots of extra features like tabbed pages and a popup stopper, albeit not free.

I used to be a die hard IE until Mozilla came out, I dont think I will ever go back to using IE again unless Mozilla gets some kind of aol influence. They can do what they want to Netscape, just leave Mozilla alone. I think maybe thats what they had in mind and is the reason why they have Netscape & Mozilla both
I'm sure they know what aol is going to do to there browser, but hard to say no to money.

Well AOL hasn't tried to influence it yet. I suppose the way AOL sees it, is it would be infinitely more expensive to hire all those guys to work on an in house browser for them, so they come out ahead just throwing a few dollars at the Mozilla project every now and then and just taking what they need from it to integrate into AOL and Netscape.

It makes sense when you think about it.

I gotta give AOL credit here - wanting to get away from IE!

If AOL would do 3 things they would be a quality ISP in my opinion -

1. Allow standard DUN access
2. Allow bypassing of their caching proxy servers
3. Allow standard POP/SMTP mail access

They actually have a very high quality network and tons of bandwidth - its their proprietary software that ruins everything.

For test purposes I got Mozilla. When I got to my home page http://drudgereport.com it loads ok. Click a link and slow loads - do a "back" and takes forever. Surfed around a little as slow as molasses. Immediately used my IE 6 and visited same sites and there's no comparison.

Hey Sarge, you may want to give Mozilla another try, use it a little longer, because it will not use the same cache as IE does, so it's not a fair comparison until you visit your usual sites 2 or 3 times, either that or empty out Everything in your temperary internet files folder, surf with mozilla and IE then compare. be sure and pull up some flash &/or java sites too.
