Free webpage????
Is there such a thing as a free webpage with no catches where they want you to pay registration fees or other fees on their so called free website page.
I am new to this side of things and just want to create a page where I can upload some of my pictures of Australia for others to look at.. I just cant find a genuine free web page. I know you dont usually get anything for nothing but someone told me that you could get a free web page to do what I want to do. I went to one site and uploaded my pictures and although they were visible on the test page, when I actually went to my so called web page,, the pictures were not there, just the text that I had written. Thanks guys.. bear with me I know nothing about this subject .

there are all kinds of free webspace sites out there, but most of them come bundled with pop up ads.
http://tripod.com http://geocities.com are just a few.

asuming that you are not adverse to advertising (not your of course) then such places as
http://geocities.yahoo.com/home/ all e mail sent to you fromt eh site will have adverts as will the site, but it is free Ironically I am looking at putting a site together myself and the people I want to see the pictures are in Australia. |

are you looking for a totaly banner-free page??
are you willing to allow popups?? if you allow these you can get 50 megabytes of webspace aat http://www.50megs.com if you want a minimum of advertisment and do not need a lot of space geosites, (yahoo's web-page service) you might want to keep an eye on your picture's size, most "providers" only allow files smaller then 1meg also keep an eye on the location of your picture is it on your hd in a folder then it has to be in a folder on your webpage too (most site creating packedges use by default an "images" folder) you might want to look into that. you might know most of this, you might not, annyway, good luk |

did you pictures just load as X's? If so you might not be linking them correctly (linking is probably not the correct terminalogy but I cant think of the word right now)

Most ISP's give you personal webspace with your account, no banners or ads.

I have two free webpage sites that I use at the moment. The first is at fortunecity.com http://members.fortunecity.com/theea...er/index.html.
The second is at 50 megs.com. http://eaglefeather.50megs.com/ I have had both of these sites for a long time and not had any trouble. The following are also free sites where I have registered for a free page, I just haven't taken advantage yet. True Path http://www.truepath.com/ 15 megs of space Crosswinds http://home.crosswinds.net/ Dreamwater http://Dreamwater.com 50 megs http://www.50megs.com/ Up to 50megs of free space. Simpletown http://www.simpletown.com/ 50 megs of space. Fortunecities http://www.fortunecities.com If your photos are not showing on your web page then you have either not uploaded the photos to the server or your html coding is not correct. I would highly recommend you go out and learn a bit of html. It is not all that difficult to learn, just a few of the very basics will give you enough knowledge to build a basic, working page. I learned a lot of my html from Goodiestogo. I recently lost all of my bookmarks so do not have a bookmark for you, but I am sure if you type the following exactly into a search engine you will find the site: "goodies to go", goodiestogo Make sure the first part of the search data is within the quotation marks and that a comma seperates both of the search data. I have not been to the site in quite some time so you will have to look for the html tutorials. They are excellently written and easy to follow. You should also get yourself a good html editor if you do not already have one. There are many different free ones available, my favorite is Arachnophilia. You can pick it up at http://arachnoid.com . Hope this helps.
