Send a message via ICQ to Sinkalip
Sounds like adware. Try Adaware

If that doesn't get it, there are a few others out there that might.

it's funny, because the title of this thread is called unwanted popups... is there such a thing as a desired popup?

View - Explorer bar - Search, click on it to uncheck it and close it, it should remember next time you open IE.

Actually, yes, when you go to some sites, a popup may be used for driver downloads, to enter info, etc. I run AdSubtract and I have to specify these sites in the program and tell it not to kill the popups.

if you go to best buy's site and try to view the weekly flyer, this is a pop up (or at least my pop up blocker thinks so), same thing on one of the news sites

unwanted popups

the search window that was coming up was only a small window in right top corner of the brouser not part of the brouser
I took (Sinkalip) advice and download Ad-aware 6.0 and ran it and remove 45 unwanted visitors from my computer and the search window was gone
thanks for all the replys (sandpitoz)
