What the heck...?!?

I got a pop-up ad that came up and crashed my comp. Twice! What's up with that?

Uninstall Windows Messaging.
NOT MSN Messenger.

If you don't know how to do so, go to Control Panel, Admin Tools, Services, look for Messenger and disable it.
Does this popup look like IE popups or DOS?
(ehm I've never seen a messenger popup, but I guess it looks like DOS windows)

They are IE popups. It's win2000 and IE6, btw. I don't think it has the SP. I'll check on that tomorrow; the next time I get on it.

It's just IE6. No SP.

I cleared all the the temporary internet files & cookies, eliminated to adds that had installed themselves in the program files folder, and uninstalled all of the useless junk that somehow got installed.

Now it seems to be working fine.
