You know, I just had to say that sometimes I get real tired of waiting for a web page to load when there are to many pictures in peoples sig, especially when they post several replys to a post and have there sig in every dang reply. Those of us that still use dial up (yes I'm one of those) think that to be very rude.
also I have no idea just who you were talking about as this post has (maybe had) no other posts and doesnt refer to anyone, not that I care but I hope that the person your talking about knows. |

I hope so too.
You're not quite right about multiple posts by the same user with a pic. Once the pic has loaded once, it will show up in all posts, without having to load each time...however... People seem to not understand how to compress an image for the web, and end up with a huge .jpg with 65 million colors, at 1200dpi, and it's simply not needed. Someone should write a tutorial on how to shrink your sig pics (hint, hint). |

Dang where is that pic I can add, to slow people down? Oh well I'll make another with 65 million colors and it will be a smiley face. I think it is a bit rude to do that in a forum. and as for a family site, who knows how young people are who look things up and end up here.

I'm one of those dial-up people too.
![]() Take a look at my sig. A little smilie, a quote and my system specs. And I think I'm pushing it just a little.

Yea, know that you mention it, it is those big high res jpeg's that do it. Photoshop is a wonderfull program, I have had a few scanned photos at 600dpi or more that were sometimes 30MB for one pic, just go to image resize and lower the resolution save copy as low res jpg, and there is the same picture at only 800k size, love the quality, but like I said I use dial up and there is no way I'm going to email someone, or upload a file that big. force_flow, no your sig is ok, this page pretty much came right up, but there have been others that have me ready to hit ctrl-alt-del
I thought about putting my computer specs in my sig, but thought well no matter how good my system is, it will only be that good for a couple few months at the most. but for those who are interested here is a link to a site that has my computer specs, and since it's not in my sig, it is more detailed and even has a few pics. http://www.geocities.com/mrphuc2000/computer.html also, there is an option that lets you uncheck 'show signature' so that lets say if you have posted 5 or 6 times on the same thread everybody doesnt need to see your sig on that page looking like a out of control pop up banner. after using a T1 at work, it doesnt take much and I'm crying about how/why my dial up is slower then using a paper in a bottle and throwing it in the ocean. |

Text on here doesn't take the time that a pic would.
This bbs is designed to handle tons of text. Think of how many bytes of info is added to it's database every day, or every hour! It works wonders, so a text only sig is a minimal thing, not worth worrying about. |

Uploading Jpeg pictures Up the Internet, is a headache.
That I usually have to resort to Photoshop -Save For Web, inorder to reduce it's size. Sometimes , I use Image Ready. But I think, usually people might not know it, it's good to bring it up, and let people who are 'new ' to get to know about it. The Internet is access by 'tons' of people from all walks of life, I guess it's understandable.... |

I use Paint Shop Pro, but the free Irfanview does a pretty good job resizing/resampling jpg's.

I'm a PSP fan as well, but IrFanView will do it easily enough.
