um...www.isuckatwebuilding.com lol www.htmlgoodies.com
a blog is a online journal. you log in,type stuff up in a java-based editor, then it save in the pre-selected template. $...check www.names4ever.com, you can use www.vze.com www.geocities.com, www.tripod.com, most cable hosts give you fast, and free web host, and no ads. ya,but text files dont take up much space.you dont need two hosts for a text file unless you are writing shakespear's all novels all in the same place, with microsoft's eula.. google vbforum...you gotta pay $ for this paticular forum. you can use phpbb,or invision I can really really help you. and I really really want to. Hire me as a webmaster. It's ok if I dont get paid.(even though you can still give me some money ).

A good, cheap way to start learning about making Web Pages is to use the basic FrontPage Express that comes with Internet Explorer.
You can work in WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) mode and then examine the HTML code to learn your code. Although some die-hards maintain that you should work in raw HTML code from the very beginning, I believe, that can be a real turn-off for a beginner. Working with a WYSIWYG editor allows you to be creative right from the very beginning as well as absorbing learning the HTML code in a fun way. Although frowned upon by serious Web Designers, you can also use Office to design your Web Site. The HTML coding isn't as clean, but I have known many amateurs to make good web sites using Office. If you want to shell out some money, then FrontPage 2002 (which integrates tightly with Office) or Dreamweaver are the popular standards. I use both for different projects. Here are some beginner links for the free FrontPage Express. http://www.thecoo.edu/~iverson/fpetu...s_tutorial.htm http://www.netmag.co.uk/ie5/fp-overview.htm You can get plenty more by using a search engine. One of the best books for beginners is Sam's Teach Yourself To Create Web Pages. Simple and clear. HTH Last edited by mike breck; 04-10-2003 at 06:19 AM. |

well I would like to-but see first. I still have not built my web page. After finishing it-then I'll ask people to review it and tell me what I can improve. After all that, then I'll invite people.

Seems like that front page express only came with win98 and explorer 5.0, but I've used netscape composer and liked it even better that front page express...
Also with netscape I was able to easily upload my files to my webspace...

I'm gonna tick all you purists off. I use Netscape Composer, and have been using it for years. I have neither the desire nor the time to learn HTML/scripting and Composer will let me get simple pages up in a minimum amount of time. I've tried other WYSIWYG editors but Composer seems to be the easiest for a newbie to use in my opinion, you use it like a word processor. It does NOT write bloated code. Another benefit is it's FREE.
believe it or not, another decent way to get a page up fast is Word 97 - its HTML converter works pretty well and is not excessively bloated. I tried Word 2000 and it was a disaster - worse than Front Page for bloating the code, it turns everything into XML. |

WYSIWYG's
I've been doin websites for 5 years and although I can now code by hand, It's a heluva lot faster using something like Dreamweaver. The learning curve is not that big that you can get semi decent results quite quickly. Practice makes perfect ect. It comes with a 30 day free trial, so it won't hurt to have a bash at it.
Purist's... Give the guy a chance! Have Fun! |

well..... here's my 2 cents
I've been a web programmer for a while now, and i learnt using frontpage (spit!!) for the general look and feel of the site. Then I'd open the created code in notepad and remove all the rubbish that is generated.
That way you get the page to look like you want it too, and you also learn what tag does what, and how to use them best. For the record I now use Interdev but in source view, cos I like the colours, tells me when i've missed close tag or a ", which is often !!! Hope this helps. |

You could start learnig HTML. That's where I started. And from there I started using front page using html. Check out this page -
And pick any good site you find about html and start from there. http://dir.yahoo.com/Computers_and_I...and_Tutorials/ Web hosting - I use AT&T for my dial-up internet and they give you 6 Emails and 6 web sites. 10mb of web space per site. John M. |
