How much do you pay for internet?

We have Comcast in our area (Indianapolis) and they recently raised the cable internet rate from 39.00 to 59.00 a month. Needless to say I’m a little ticked off. I'm thinking about going back to dial up. They said they could save me $2.00 a month if I subscribed to basic cable TV. So, let me get this straight, it’s cheaper to get both than to have just one. What kind of bull**** is that?

I’m curious, how much do you pay for internet, what type of service do you have, who is you provider and what area are you in?

I pay $20 a month for the first 3 months and then it's $40 a month. That's for cable modem and my landlord pays for the cable service. I have optimum online.

Oh and Cablevision sucks.

$12.95 a month for dialup here. No other options since I live in the boonies (well, unless you call that mini satellite dish type of internet an "option").

I have Earthlink Cable & its 41.95 a month. I used to have Roadrunner, which was 44.95 a month, but switched cuz Timewarner does both Earthlink & RR. Saved a few $$s a month + got the 3 month $20 deal

Planenuts:
I don't think they meant you will just start paying 2 dollars less ($57.00) for internet and basic cable, that probably means that if you subscribe to basic cable too then internet will be charged at the 57 plus you'll pay whatever basic cable costs, probably around 40 bucks a month. I almost changed over to cable recently cause they are offering digital cable and internet for 79.99, but I decided to stay with verizon dsl and the veriations package which lowered my dsl to $35, and $55 for telephone service call anywhere in USA, or Canada, unlimited anytime.. This works out nice cause no more watching the phone usage or calling times...

When I first signed up in 1998 for cable service, I was getting 1024 down/up for $49.95CDN per month.... I now have 1536/1024 down/up for $39.95CDN per month (That's about $34.50USD).

ktkendall, that's EXACTLY what they were saying. It would be cheaper to have both. Or I could subscribe to just basic cable and it would be $29.00 a month. Here was the breakdown
Cable TV (Basic) $29.00
Cable Internet $59.00
Cable TV & Internet $57.00

Figure that one out, I can't!

Oh yea, they suckered me on the $19.00 a month for three months deal too. They said, 3 months of cable internet for $19.00 then the regular rate would be $39.00. But they failed to mention that the $39.00 would be for only 3 months too.

Cheryl, how do you like earthlink vs. RR? I have Time warner too with the option of either one.

So far, service has been the same. TW did the switch over the phone. If there's a problem with the connection, TW takes care of it.

I did have to call Earthlink for the password cuz I didn't get it in the mail yet. The estimated hold was long, so I did the online chat. Had a bit of a wait for that too.

I think the offer is still on.

$9.95 for unlimited dial-up a month. I use a company called surfside internet and the service is not that bad plus I get a decent connection.

I pay $29.99 a month for cable internet ( Charter). I pay about $10.00 less than other people in my area. I think it's because I was one of the first in my area to get it. Not sure about that, but I'm not about to question it .
PS. Speed is about 900 kbs

$49.95 a month for Earthlink DSL 768/160. Includes 20 hours of Earthlink dialup a month for traveling. $4.95 a month for AOL, 3 hours a month, I still have about 30 free hours on the books from several years ago when I was a beta tester before they offered unlimited access.
