Apple's online music Store

So Apple opened their online music store yesterday and I have to say I like it. Download any song for 99c and any album for $9.99 with no monthly fee. Fast too. Plus it allows you to burn them to any number of CD's, any number of iPod's and up to 3 other Mac's. Not too bad really considering the DRM issues today. It's a mac only service for now but should be available to peecee owners by the end of the year. Wonder if they'll port itunes over for that?

On a side note, I bought 3 Dire Straits Cd's this weekend. Turns out they're all copy protected. Audiograbber didn't have a chance. Popped them in my mac today with the new itunes 4, and it ripped em no problem. Wonder why, i guess the protection only works on a peecee.

i could go buy a whole cd from the store for $9.99 that will probably come with extras too. if they change the price to $5.00 an album, and 50c a song, then if kazaa ever went down, they would have me as a customer.

$9.99 for a CD??????

Where are you shopping that you're buying a cd for $9.99. Every store I go to now a days cds cost like $15. Sounds to me like you're just tryin to bash this thing cause you don't like macs.

I've seen some in stores for $9.99, but generally they are older releases. One benefit i see to this, as it gets ported to the PC, is the prices for pre-recorded cd's will have to come down just to compete. Unfortunately I dont get a store discount on music as I don't work in a store, as most people don't, so this could ultimately benefit everybody.
