IE rightclick
What would be the most likely culprit for adding unwanted things to the right click menu in Internet Explorer? I just did a scan with Ad-Aware, turned up nothing. Currently doing a anti-virus scan and so far has turned up nothing. Deleted all temp files. Looked for any unusual reg entrys.

What type of unwanted menu items are you getting? Have you installed any new software recently?

It adds ">>> FREE PORN GALLERIES <<<" which takes you to, well, a porn site. I'm not too sure when it appeared, I don't use IE though other people do in my family. As for programs I installed, none that should have done that. Winamp, FileZilla (FTP client) are the only ones I can think of. But other people use the computer, and my dad has a habit of downloading freeware/shareware programs. Maybe somebody will recognize the entry or something.

I've never seen that entry before. Download and try using spybot search and destroy. I my opinion it does a better job of finding things that you're unaware are even there. BTW, what OS are you using?

I'm not sure about Win 2000 but in Win XP the registry entry HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\MenuExt contains the additional entries for the right-click menu in IE. Check here to see if you can find the entry that you want to remove. If it's there you should be able to solve your problem by deleting it.
Be sure to back up your registry before making any changes. Check the link below for the procedure if you're unfamiliar with the process. http://support.microsoft.com/default...;en-us;Q322755 |

Thanks, I actually just found the solution before checking back here. And yes it's the same value under Win2000.

Great. I'm glad you have the problem sorted out. You wouldn't want the kids getting to a porn site that easy.

Actually, I am considered the "kid" of the family - well, youngest anyways. My 19th birthday is coming up in a few months.

Well in that case I guess you wouldn't want your folks blaming you for putting porn on the PC. I'm the youngest too and I got blamed for everything when I was at home.
