dial-up ISPs.....

Anyone have any opinions on SBC Yahoo! for their dial-up service? My mom lives in toledo, ohio and is currently using a local provider, toast.net, and it has become very slow over the past few months, so i am looking for a new ISP for her. any opinions would be greatly appreciated

thanks ^dan

Complain to the provider before you switch. There may be a problem that they can fix to improve service.

The only customer I have that tried SBC Yahoo dialup had a disaster - the software trashed Win98 so bad we had to run the restore disk. It's in the same class of miserable proprietary software as AOL and MSN. Put her on Earthlink, they are the only major national dialup ISP that I know of that does not *require* you to install their crapware, it's a standard DUN setup like most local ISP's. They would LIKE you to install their junk, but it's not required.

I have the SBC dial-up as a backup to the DSL. I just did the thing in DUN without installing anything. Been awhile since I fooled with ISPs but with exception of AOL and MSN, seems one could do the same routine. And I've never "upgraded" with the Yahoo cd they keep sending.

My customer was told that they had to install the software and their existing DUN connection would stop working. So they installed the software and bluescreen city, that's when they called me.
