Wot, is Opera faster by any means?
I am concerned with the sluggardlyness of Moz, but this install is not too bad.

Hi Blakhart,

You might want to d/l Opera also. Then run one after another and check for yourself.
Until Opera came out with 7.1, I considered Mozilla one of the fastest browsers. Now Opera will compete with the best of em' when it comes to speed.

I ran IE6, Mozilla, and Opera on my test machine and was able to get first hand results.

This the brower that I like to use.... If you use Phoenix and like it than in my opinion there is no reason you would not like this...

Mozilla Firebird (formerly Phoenix) for Windows 0.6 Glendale

File Description:
Mozilla Firebird project (formerly Phoenix) is a redesign of Mozilla's browser component, written using the XUL user interface language and designed to be cross-platform.

I like the tabbed browsing feature in Firebird, but I'm waiting for a more stable release with cookie whitelisting to be released before I fully switch over from IE.

Mozilla because it hath an anti pop-up feature included. This way thou shalt not be bothered by lots of crappy tiny windows crowding thy screeen.

And so it was. I am still looking for a fast and free browsereth that doth not allow 3rd party foolery. Someday there shalt be a browser that doth it all, and righteously as well.

Anyone knoweth what is sent by ie to M$ whenever you fire up said knavish fellow?

Opera hath anti pop-up features as well, Nuke.

If speed doth thou require, Opera 7.1 giveth.

how long have you been using ie, setting it up, downloading features, patches, updates, ect... give Mozilla 1 4th of that same time (to dial in preferences, download plugins, ect...) and you will be cured from that part of you M$ addiction. It's my mean browser, I love it, so fast and smooth with all the right features and tools, but I must say that when I first tried it I didnt care for it to much, and I bet alot of other people here who now are Mozilla users were the same way.

I think that I shall never see,
A browser as vexing as M$ IE.
This surfer has flirted with Opera's retort,
But Opera's markèd ad bar makes it a poor sport.
To solve this dour riddle and gain peace of mind,
I downloaded Mozilla; O, what a great find!
Its quick speed, tabbed browsing, and ad blocker too,
will enhance your 'net fun even more than home brew.
So to end, this poor soul has but one thing to say:
Drop IE and the rest and try Mozilla today!

I actually just uninstalled mozilla from a clients computer, it seems like it takes over links and attachments in Outlook and forces you to use it but then doesn't work. Personally I love opera for my home computer but here at work the new netscape is flawless with most of the Java we deal with

I started with Phoenix and moved to Mozilla and adore it. Ad blocking, no on-screen extra nonsense, ability to skin it. Great and swift EXCEPT -

My roommate uses AOL mail and mozilla will NOT allow her to access it. I have experienced certain lags checking my internet mail, but she simply can NOT. She HAS to use IE to access her aol and it gives her no problem. I just make sure to run spybot after her!

I guess mozilla just has good taste!

PS - I think Mozilla only takes over links if you set it as the default browser - which I did. Just change the setting back to IE if there are problems.

One of the features I didn't like of Opera is that the default font is too small. When you use Ctrl+mouse wheel to expand it the images expand too and get too pixelated.

Very Cute.

Nuke, there is an option in the preferances for smoothing. (I can't recall where it is at the moment, as I'm not on my computer. )

Mozilla doth have a feature that vexes me: whenever I click on a link to a jpg pic, it doth not display it, instead a dialog box appears asking me where do I want to save the file.

Ahhh, all this is very fine and dandy to those of you who know what the heck you are talkiin about. But to us IE zombies, please chant with me: microsoft,microsoft,microsoft...
I twas thinkin of chjanging meself, but had troubles with the Moz. My question is, what should I do with my IE? can I just let it sit in the background while I try Opera? Leave it the default?
What about migrating the favorites? Will Outlook EXp work with Opera? Oh god, I said a M/S word, I feel like chanting again...Bill,Bill,Bill help me Bill...

Thats what I do - IE just sits there unless I want to use it, and I made Opera my default - and Opera has a darn nice mail client (which I don't use - I'm a Pegasus junkie). Opera can import IE favorites. If you insist, you can keep Outhouse Express as your mail client.
