I am looking for some Cheap and reliable web hosts. I already have some Domain names that I would be transfering, but I don't want to be hit with some major bills...
So if you can list some that you have used and basic pricing that would be helpful...Thanks... |

My folks have their doman at WestHost.
9ish bucks a month for 25 megs, one email, shell account, ftp access, etc. Uptime is their strong point though, several host review sites have them listed at the top, always above 99%. http://www.westhost.com Xayd |

I just took on http://www.Dreamhost.com ... and couldn't be happier. Paid a year in full for about $10 a month, 60MB... its ridiculously fast... not sure about others, but gives you a free dreamhost domain (mine's http://petes99.dreamhost.com ) which i'll keep till i decide on one of my own (such a tough decision!)

bad 50megs/about web experience
50megs.com was "taken" over by about web and during the transfer FTP access has been suspended.
There was no information given to the webmasters, only spotty replies from Customer Service. After a week of being ignored, I emailed them w/ a simple question: Will we be given a refund for the down time? This is what they responded: No you will not. Spencer Candland Customer Support Tech About Web Services Customer Support Must be nice to be SO successful that you don't need any customers, huh? I responded w/ an immediate cancelation of my account. Now, to find a new home for my domains. |

Webaxxs.com
Plans starting at $9.95 a month - very comprehensive and liberal. Apache. 24/7 email and toll free phone support. |

I've probably used around sixty different hosts by now. Best of the breed for lower cost requirements would probably be http://www.hostmatters.com -- see their $6/month plan. Support is fast and very astute.

I have been using TierraNet (www.tierra.net) for more than a year for two web sites and I am very happy with it. A third site I developed for someone else is also hosted there with the same satisfaction level.
I pay $24.95 for 100 MB. Not the cheapest around but not many have what they offer for that price. They also have cheaper plans with and without domain name. One thing I must point out is their excellent customer support. I have had all sorts of questions about my account and also technical aspects of the server that are beyond what most providers would take, and they have always been quick and accurate in their replies. And also extremely helpful, and more often than not, getting out of the way.
